Chelsea Sheasley is the Monitor’s Deputy National News editor, based in Boston. She works with editors and reporters across the U.S. to shape coverage of topics ranging from immigration to the Supreme Court and politics. 

Chelsea was an education reporter at the Monitor during the COVID-19 pandemic. She covered remote schooling, learning loss, high-impact tutoring, homeschooling and learning pods, as well as debates over pandemic protocols and critical race theory. Chelsea represented the Monitor in an education news collaboration run by the Solutions Journalism Network, and through the partnership her stories were published in The Dallas Morning News, The Seattle Times, the 74, and Hechinger Report. 

Chelsea has also written articles for MIT Technology Review and Edutopia.

Previously, Chelsea served as Asia editor for the Monitor and reported from Pakistan through a journalism exchange program. She also reported from Israel and the West Bank while interning with the Monitor’s Jerusalem bureau chief. She holds a Masters of Science in journalism from Boston University and a Bachelors of Arts in history from Principia College.
